MEMOIRS OF A BROKEN HEARTED MAN

There's nothing like that very day when that dream girl of yours smiles back at you, just can't help but replay it over and over again in your mind. It's a day you can't forget, that day is when you realize that your dream of making her your soul mate is finally on course. Then, another unforgettable day, the day she finally says yes. Trust me, euphoria is an understatement to the excitement you feel for that very moment, because she's yours now and forever, as you think with optimism.

Life as we know it, is full of uncertainties, I heard someone say that everyone will experience a broken heart at least once in a  lifetime, how true that is,I don't know. There comes that time when you realize some little cracks in the relationship, you try hard to solve them but it just doesn't work. That is when you notice the signs, but love blinds you so bad so you just try to live with it.

Then, the Big Bang! She tells you it's OVER!! You laugh it over, "No it's not over" you think, hoping her decision will roll over, believing it's one of them "girlie" tests. Days go by and she still doesn't change her mind, then you think to yourself, "Should I be the perfect gentleman and let her go or become the savage and go after her with all guns blazing just to get her back no matter what." You realize you can't handle it, so you tell her best friend, she tries her best to convince her but it doesn't change a thing, now you slowly begin to accept the harsh merciless reality, she's gone and never coming back. Like the waves of the sea her love got so close to you but now its gone. Now almost every 30 minutes, you check your phone to see if she messaged or called but you don't see her name in the log, your heart skips a beat each time you hear the phone ring. You answer wishing it was her only to hear the voice of your boys or an annoying friend. You wish she'd at least message but that message never comes and you stay awake all through the night because you know she'll pop in your memories when you close your eyes. The moment you hear that song you both loved, memories of her flood your mind like a rushing river, you break down and turn the music off, you go through all the messages and realise how close and happy you and her were, you just can't help but miss her.

Time flies and moments grow old, you wonder if you have to hold on and wait in case she changes her mind, or you're just wasting your time so you just have to move on. She never said goodbye but you can sense "goodbye" in the few replies she gives you. Then you hear what you've always feared, she's got herself a better man.You get hurt so bad and then you wonder if you were ever good enough for her, you look at her photos and can't believe you had a diamond under all that dust, can't believe the chance you've lost. You shiver invisibly, fall apart silently and reality becomes a live nightmare as you try to make your heart understand it's finally over. You try hard to smile through it all but the pain is like an arrow straight through your heart. Folks around you tell you to get over it, but trying to simply forget her is like remembering every word you said ten years ago, feels like quicksand, the harder you try to get out, the deeper you sink. Not so long ago, she was your Lois Lane and you were her Superman, but now she's gone forever so you become Wolverine and she becomes your moon, because all you can do is just miss her and howl at her. One thing I know is that broken heart is like a wound, it hurts so bad, but with time it will heal and all the pain will go away.Sometimes the scar remains and that scar is the memories we have of that one special person. Love is wonderful, makes you fly without wings but sometimes, just sometimes,it's Lots Of Vague Emotions(L.O.V.E).

WHEN THE WELL RUNS DRY

When the well runs dry, you get desperate, because you know you have to go the extra mile to find water. Most wells usually run dry during the dry season.

The dry season is a time of hardship, scarcity, desperation and heat. Even in the wild, its not the right season to bring forth offspring, because its around that time when both predator and prey share the same drinking spot almost at the same time, the almost dried up water bodies, its survival of the fittest. During the dry season, the well becomes our sole source of water, metaphorically speaking, in our daily lives, its our last resort of hope. At some point in your life, you will experience a bitter dry season, a time of drought and despair. Things will go from bad to worse, some of the people you trusted most will turn their back on you, a shock that will take you sometime to get over and just when you thought it won't get any worst, your well will run dry. That little light of hope will shine no more and you will feel like you are at a dead end.

During such times and at all times, trust God no matter what and let others see Him in you by obeying His word, being faithful to Him, learning and sharing His word with others. As a Christian, you are like a book, people are reading you page by page, so let what they see lead them to Christ. Bear in mind that as bad as the dry season may seem, it needs to come to provide enough heat for evaporation, just so the rains can fall, paving way for the wet season. That season of green and plenty, a season that will fill up your well once again. Those hardships come to test your faith in God(James 1:2-3), if you can stay faithful to God in your bad times, you can stay faithful to God in your good times, in all things thank and submit to God by trusting and obeying Him.

Your well will be full again by God's grace and that WELL OF FAILURE,will surely run DRY! Amen.

FORD AND I

It was around the year 2002, I was in town with my mother, I was just a kid then, when I saw this white SUV, parked opposite the "Woodin" store, at Market Circle in Takoradi,Ghana. The car's design arrested my attention and my interest was just fueled by the size of the car. As a car fan from childhood, curiosity set in and I was so bent on knowing the name of the car. It was a FORD, my memory isn't that vivid but I reminisce it was a FORD EXPEDITION.

It was love at first sight, like I found my soul mate in cars, literally. Just like that I became a FORD fan, I begun looking out for all FORD nameplates, I must admit I had a hard time differentiating between the EXPLORER and EXPEDITION, that accounts for my not so vivid memory back in 2002, because I thought it was an EXPLORER. My other favourite nameplates are the ESCAPE, EXPLORER, FUSION, FOCUS, MUSTANG, F-250 AND F-150, which by the way, is one of my favourite pick up trucks.Frankly, I just love FORD cars.

Henry Ford, founder of Ford Motor Company
Here's a little history lesson, the Ford Motor Company was started by HENRY FORD, in 1903 with $28,000 in cash and made its first sale of a vehicle to Dr. E. Pfenning, a physician from Chicago, Illinois, USA. Dr. Pfenning's Model A was shipped to him on July 28, 1903. Since then, FORD has gone on to produce over 300 million vehicles.FORD is also the first car manufacturer to make inflatable seat belts(seat belts with airbags). In May 8, 1996, The Expedition was revealed,it pairs seating for up to nine passengers, an 8,000 pound towing capacity, off-road capabilities, and the ability to haul a full ton of cargo with the comfort and convenience features of a luxury vehicle. Ford has sold over 2 million Expeditions in its 15 years on the market. Now that's some real tough record!

Ford Expedition 2003-2006 model
I'm a huge fan of FORD and the EXPEDITION is my favourite, its my dream car. Well, I heard if your dreams don't scare you, then you aren't dreaming, so my dream is to buy a FORD EXPEDITION. Actually, the first car I buy, God willing, will be a FORD. Looks like I got a thing for American cars and I'm just a FORD guy lol.

SAVE OUR DOMESTIC SOCCER LEAGUE

Soccer or football has grown to become one of the most exciting sports and lucrative business ventures in the world. Fortunately for us in Ghana,we are a football nation, the problem is, our domestic league is nothing to write home about. Our domestic league is known as the Glo Premier League, as telecomunications giant Glo, is the title sponsor.
With clubs dating as far back as 1911, I believe it’s about time the league became a major force in ,atleast, Africa.  It’s true that the league was ranked as the 11th best league in Africa by the IFFHS from 2001-2010. The IFFHS is The International Federation of Football History & Statistics (IFFHS) and it is an organization that chronicles the history and records of association football. Honestly, I don’t know where we rank currently but the league is not really patronised.

I will start with our dear referees. We as Ghanaians know what happened earlier this year(2012),it got to a point, referees had not been paid since the sixth week of the premier league. Well, I’m very sure being a referee is no charity job, so why did it have to take so long before their deserved money was paid to them.No motivation, it’s obvious that some of the even better paid referees in foreign leagues sometimes take bribes, so you can just imagine what a hungry referee will do. Respect to all just referees though.

Then there is the jerseys of the teams. Most of their jerseys are so not attractive and doesn’t enthuse their fans.Ever wondered why most Ghanaians spend money on jerseys of foreign teams? Yes their support of the team counts but the design of the jersey also is a huge factor. People wear these foreign jerseys to school, social gatherings and even religious meetings. It has now become a Ghanaian popular culture for youth, both male and female, to wear the jersey of their various foreign football team each time there is a match. I hardly see them doing that for the domestic teams. To make matters worse, the local jerseys are not even available to buy.

The last thing I will talk about is the access. Frankly speaking, foreign leagues are more accessible than our own domestic league. You can easily access information such as match dates, top goal scorers and even highlights of matches of foreign leagues if you want to. Most of these foreign leagues have adapted to the change of the 21st Century and have joined the pool of social media such as Youtube,Facebook and Twitter, giving fans more access to their league. It’s no surprise most of us Ghanaians ditch local matches for foreign matches in elite leagues such as the Barclays Premier League(England) and Spanish La Liga(Spain).

We need to improve our league, for it will create employment for those with the football gift, such as referees, coaches and players, open our country to investors and also for sports entertainment to keep our worries and boredom at bay. I also urge sports journalist in Ghana to make our local football league more interesting and accessible. As a native of Sekondi-Takoradi in the Western region of Ghana, I applaud Skyy Power FM, Aseda FM and Melody FM for their efforts in trying to make our domestic league interesting. Not forgetting John Amoako Adu, a vibrant youth, for giving us our own version of “Goal.com”,known as “kicksportsgh.com”, a website that gives you up to date information, such as match dates, transfer news, top scorers, etc  on our domestic league. I look at such endeavours and I say, It’s about that time!

THE TEACHER

I wonder what the world would be without the teacher, they are the unsung heroes, that silent force that propels legends to immortality in our memories. The most talked about man in history,Jesus Christ, the founder of Christianity, was a great teacher. Alexander the Great, was a student of Aristotle,a great Greek philosopher and Aristotle himself was a student of Plato, another great Greek philosopher.

It is evident that this profession has been there for ages,it has stood the test of time and survived the might of huge salaried professions. Without him there would be no doctors, engineers, bankers and not even a new generation of teachers. Like a lamp, he lights the path for his students, like a father he disciplines them so they do not repeat their mistakes, like a mother he is not happy till his students are happy and like a commanding officer,he gives them the strategy to win battles, that is their examinations.

A teacher is an engine that keeps the future of every generation brighter, the backbone of every economy and an inspiration to millions. Teaching is more than a profession,it is an honour. God bless all teachers who make a positive impact.
